When a mysterious Being discovers a world devoid of humans, it sets out to unravel what happened. While searching for clues, the Being creates the film Hungry using interviews made with scientists before the extinction. The facts seem to prove that there was no possibility to heal humanity or the world. Or not?
SYNOPSIS
When a mysterious Being in a near future discovers a world devoid of humans, it sets off to find out the cause of humanity’s disappearance. Following clues retrieved from the past – voice recordings made with prominent scientists before the elimination events – the Being films and creates its own documentary, Hungry. What seemingly begins as an environmental film, soon evolves into a scientific “criminal” investigation, revealing a hidden chain of cause and effect. We hear experts discuss the catastrophic trajectory of food politics, agricultural biodiversity and corporate monopolies, leaving us with a chilling view of a future increasingly controlled by corporate and political power.
As the Being searches for leads to the perpetrators of the extinction, its film discloses what led to the destruction of food security, to the deterioration of labor markets and to decline in democracies.
In a closing twist, the last shot in the Being's film reframes everything we’ve seen. Could something still be done to save humanity?
Hungry’s radical use of scientific findings without talking heads is a cinematic call to action aiming to prevent this future from becoming our own.
