"A Door for me – open" interweaves two timelines to explore how young people navigate major upheaval and uncertainty. The experiences of present-day teenagers with migration background meet the story of a 13-year-old girl from the late 19th century, who is forced to leave her homeland and emigrate to a distant country.

What does it mean when you have to start over? How do you cope with the feeling of being foreign?
 
As the present-day youths open up to each other and speak their minds, their exchanges are compelling and at the same time moving. "A Door for Me – Open" shines a spotlight on a politically and socially polarizing global topic, which is in turn reflected in the feelings, fears, and aspirations of the youths. Young people face everyday life, fear and uncertainty with wit, resilience and hope – then and now.
